Developing a decision-making model for improving the groundwater balance to control land subsidence

This study aimed to control land subsidence by improving the groundwater balance in Varamin plain using Groundwater Modelling System software and a multi-criteria decision model. For this purpose, aquifer level quantification rate simulation were performed with MODFLOW model SUB package, respectively. The results showed 6 m decrease over 5-year period central parts was 37 cm. Accordingly, evaluated considering eight different restoration strategies based on reduced exploitation artificial feeding. that environmental criterion related adjustment index had highest weight (0.27) introduced as most important decision-making criterion. evaluation of priorities Complex Proportional Assessment (COPRAS) method 30% reduction feeding is best strategy can improve 36% 76%, respectively, (2024).
